What is an
affiliate program?
An affiliate
program is an arrangement between an associate
site and a merchant or site looking for potential
customers. The affiliate will post links to the
merchant's site for a price. It's basically a way
for the merchant to have much more exposure on the
Internet than just depending on getting traffic to
their site independently.
The affiliate
will supply traffic, leads or may even sell the
merchants products or service on their site. The
available affiliate programs and partner sites are
almost endless. Just about product or service you
see on the Internet usually has some kind of
program.
Amazon.com was
one the companies that really got the affiliate
program off an running back in the 90's. An
affiliate can posts links to Amazon, sell their
products directly through their pages, sell up
stores through their program and even post one of
many Amazon RSS feeds.
- Here are just
a few examples of how I have used Amazon's
program.
1. This is an example of a page
I have that has individual products. You can
sell anything Amazon has on their site from
books to electronics, from tools to apparel.
You make a commission of the sale and never
had to handle the product.
2. Another example is a store
front which is set up right through
Amazon, no charge. The store front is updated
by Amazon as needed.
3. Half way down this page
you will see an Amazon Blog. Next to the blog
you'll see a couple of products I'm promoting
from Amazon.
Affiliate
marketing is now one of the biggest and very
profitable marketing businesses on the Internet.
But without the right tools, you may find it
difficult to make any money.
